I spent the past three weeks in Washington, D.C. for work while Brian and the boys stayed in Paraguay. I’m glad to be home with them and I certainly did have a great time on my trip, eating lots of delicious food, seeing family, old friends and great tourist attractions.
I ate carnitas tacos, mini burgers, full size burgers, pizza, grilled shrimp, scallops, crab cakes, steamed mussels, carbonara pasta, pho, deli sandwiches, meatballs, bratwurst, shrimp cocktail, ribeye steak, chili dog and cheese fries, seared scallops and risotto, seared ahi tuna, chicken wings cooked in duck fat and seasoned with sriracha, linguini with clams, Maryland crabs, mahi mahi tacos, cheese cake, Peruvian chicken, lobster mac ‘n’ cheese, filet, a tower of ahi tuna, creamed spinach, bacon slices on a stick,
and washed it all down with American beer and California wine.
All my meals were in good company, spent with family and old friends, some I hadn’t seen in years. It was great to chat and catch up.
When I wasn’t working or eating, I did a lot of touristy stuff too, particularly when my sister Nora came to DC to visit for a weekend. I had a great time visiting sites including Arlington National Cemetery, Gettysburg, Ford’s Theater and the house where Lincoln died, the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the World War II Memorial, the top of the Washington Monument, the U.S. Capitol Building, the Supreme Court, the White House, Mount Vernon, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery, and went to a Nationals baseball game and saw Madeleine Albright speak.
Washington, D.C. is a great place and I look forward to visiting again!
