It’s been a busy couple of months for the Collins family. So far this year, three of my sisters have gotten engaged. My mom – planner, hostess and entertainer extraordinaire – has been on overdrive planning and coordinating the details of these weddings, especially that of Maureen and Jonah as their wedding reception is going to be TODAY! at my mom and dad’s house five months after their engagement. There are lots of details to be managed for one wedding, let alone three, and as a friend told me, you have more engaged siblings than I have total siblings!
Here are Maureen and Jonah, the couple of the weekend.
Here are Nora and Dan, who will be wed in November.
And here are Sheila and Mike who are getting married in July 2015.
The Maureen and Jonah wedding weekend activities kicked off with Thursday night bowling. Danny didn’t care where his ball went he just loved carrying the ball over to the ramp and giving it a shove.
Danny didn’t love the idea of helping Jonah and Maureen open their gift, but he recovered in time to have a little sunglasses dance party and nuzzle with Grandpa.
On Friday, vendors were at the house to finish the last details for the tents, lighting and landscape.
Last night we had a rehearsal at St. Edmund Church. My dad’s uncle Jim painted the church ceiling, including cherubs at the feet of Mary which according to legend were modeled after the faces of my dad and his brothers when they were babies.
After the church rehearsal, we had an amazing dinner at Season 52 featuring fantastic food, wonderful wine, all of my sisters, and some beautiful toasts.
My mom gave the happy couple a gift that had belonged to her own late mother.
When we got home at the end of the night, Sheila showed off the buffet area which was all set up!
It’s going to be a great day today. We can’t wait for the wedding and we are so happy for Maureen and Jonah!
